In 1996, Nativa Geranio shook the foundations of Salvadoran rock with a debut album that would go on to define a generation. At a time when local rock struggled for visibility, the band’s music broke through to national radio, helping establish a new cultural moment in Central America.

Led by the now-classic single “Abajo del Agua,” the album became a turning point for the region’s rock scene. The song grew into an anthem, opening doors for the band to tour across Central America and share stages with international icons including Café Tacvba, Men at Work, and Gustavo Cerati. More than a collection of songs, the record captured the urgency, grit, and voice of a movement that insisted Salvadoran rock belonged on a larger stage.

Nearly thirty years later, Nativa Geranio returns to that defining body of work with fresh perspective and renewed intention. In partnership with Normandie Records, the band has fully re-recorded the entire album from the ground up, revisiting every song to create a high-definition version that reflects both their roots and their evolution. The project honors the original spirit of the record while presenting it with the clarity and depth made possible by modern recording techniques.
